I would have to start by using a line or two from Gil Scott Heron “I did not become someone different that I did not want to be, but I’m new here. Will you show me around?” and Vern Catron with his patience, understanding and radio knowledge showed me around, walked me, and helped me to understand and get the whole picture of radio at WIGO and anywhere else after that. I was young and wanting to become someone different and this man’s leadership and experience taught me and gave me the tools to do that.
Vern is a leader. My time at ABC Radio was filled with guidance and support which increased our viewership and affiliates all under his leadership. I came out experienced and grateful for his shared encouragement and abundance of knowledge of the industry and media marketing. He is the real deal.
